Org. Setting and Reporting       


The internship is located in the Centre for Learning and  Multilingualism (CLM), Human Resources Management Service, United  Nations Office at Geneva. This internship is for a period of three  months, from 13 January to 27 March 2020.


The internship is UNPAID and full-time.


The intern will work five days per week under the overall supervision  of the chief of the Language Training Programme and under the direct  supervision of the teacher responsible for the English Programme at  the Centre for Learning and Mulitilingualism (CLM).

Responsibilities       


Under the supervision of the chief of the Language Training Programme  and under the direct supervision of the teacher responsible for the  English Programme (CLM), the incumbent will :



- Assist in developing and updating learning materials, resources and  online activities using the platform on Moodle;

- Work on our internal testing system and other ongoing projects;

- Ensure a presence in the Language Resource Centre, which will  entail assisting clients and organizing Resource Centre materials;

- Assist with other language and management&communication  programmes in the Section as desired and required;

- Assist with international examinations or other tasks as required;

- Undertake a project related to his or her Degree or Masters'  programme, or as required.

Education       


To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship  Programme, the following conditions must be met :

- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements : (a) be  enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or  equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of  a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or  equivalent) ; or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as  defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a  one year period of graduation ;

- Be computer literate in standard software applications ;

- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations  and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter ; and

- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with  individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which  include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing  opinions and views.

Work Experience       


Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have  professional work experience. Are you a student in a Bachelor’s (final  year), Mater’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have you completed  a degree and are able to commence an internship within a year of graduation?

Will you be able to cover the costs of travel, accommodation, health  insurance and other living expenses for the duration of the internship?

Are any of your siblings, children or parents employed by the United  Nations Secretariat?

Are you a student in a Bachelor's (final year), Master's or Ph.D.  programme or equivalent, or have you completed a degree and are able  to commence an internship within a year of graduation?

Languages       


English and French are the working languages of the United Nations  Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English and a working  level of French is required.
